I’m Clare Massey, a photographer, educator and writer based in the UK.

My work looks at memory, the found photograph and the archive: how we use pictures to hold on to the past, and the fictions we build around them.

Finding Light is my first novel, currently in progress. It grew from six years of research into amateur photography, nostalgia, and the photographs people keep without quite knowing why. The Method page explains how its photographs were made.

I teach photography theory and practice, and run industry workshops.
